The first visit usually takes about 45 minutes (without acupuncture) and 90 minutes (with acupuncture). The doctor will take a detailed medical history with the help of an interpreter (onset of main problems, history of treatment and medication, differentiation of symptoms related to TCM). During the first examination, the doctor will spend some time getting to know you and your health problems. He may ask you a series of questions about your symptoms, diet, exercise, sleep habits, emotional states, and anything else that can provide insight into your health. The practitioner will also use diagnostic tools unique to acupuncture and TCM, such as diagnosticslanguage andpulse.

Your treatment plan

Once the doctor has gathered enough information, you will receive a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan that will explain:

●     Your underlying imbalances

●     Care timeline

●     What types of treatment you will receive

●     How to get the most out of treatment

For the best treatment results, please consider:

●     Please be on time.

●     Do not eat a large meal or on an empty stomach before your visit

●     Wear loose and comfortable clothes

●     Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor.

●     Discuss your symptoms, avoid self-diagnosis

●     Bring test or imaging results if available

●     Do not brush your tongue or eat chewing gum before your visit

●     Avoid vigorous physical activity after an acupuncture session

●     Follow the treatment plan during visits

●     Consider all visits as each visit builds on the previous one

How the treatment works

Each person is different, so the doctor prepares an individual plan according to the needs and condition of the person. Herbal medicines are an important aspect of acupuncture and TCM. They can work alone or in combination with acupuncture, depending on the patient's condition.

During acupuncture sessions, thin, sterile needles will be inserted into specific acupuncture points along the meridian pathways. Your doctor will focus on acupuncture points associated with specific organs based on your unique problems and symptoms. Your doctor may also incorporate other related therapies into your treatment plan, such as cupping, Tuina massage, or moxibustion

Your role in the healing process

Your actions are a key component of your treatment plan. Adjusting your diet and committing to a healthy lifestyle are the best steps you can take for your well-being. Together with your doctor, you can heal imbalances and help you achieve harmony and balance.

Even after symptoms have resolved, acupuncture can help you maintain your health and possibly prevent future imbalances. The more you incorporate the principles of TCM into your life, the more you will learn to nurture your body, mind and spirit.

Acupuncture and TCM are not instant solutions

True healing takes time and dedication. Depending on your current medical condition and symptoms, you may feel better immediately, or you may need weeks, months, or years of treatment to achieve the desired results. Your doctor can tell you what to expect. With some patience and an open mind, you will be on your way to health and vitality.

Acupuncture and TCM offer a safe and effective system of holistic health care. This natural approach can relieve symptoms and improve your overall health.

By taking the right steps and planting the seeds of health, you are on the way to a healthier you.

Appointment cancellation and reordering

The cancellation policy is in place to ensure that every patient has a fair chance to receive the desired day and time of treatment. We just ask that you respect the time of your doctor and other patients and try to keep your appointments organized. It is your responsibility to bear the consequences of changes to your schedule, so please be fair.

AKU ENERGIJA strives to provide accurate and professional services. Therefore, please inform us 48 hours in advance if you wish to cancel or change the appointment. We understand that emergencies do arise from time to time, in which case cancellation charges do not apply. The objective reasons are:

  • unexpected hospitalization of a patient or a close family member, which prevents the patient from coming to an appointment or providing a medical service,

  • sudden illness, injury or health condition of the patient or a close family member, which prevents the patient from coming to an appointment or providing a medical service,

  • death of a close family member of the patient.

If the non-emergency cancellation notice is less than 48 hours, you will be charged late cancellation and no-show fees of €20, payable within 7 days. If you know someone who would be willing to take your appointment, referrals are also welcome.
